Data Mover

Task Management and Monitoring

The centralized dashboard gives you a single place to create, manage, and monitor your data-management tasks.

You can create multiple tasks to move, archive, or protect data across different storage tiers. Each task can be configured independently, giving you control over what data is processed, where it comes from, where it goes, when it runs, and how it is handled.

Configure a task

Each task has its own settings. Depending on your requirements, you can configure the following:

  • Actions — Define what you want to do with the selected data, such as moving, archiving, or protecting it.

  • Source — Select where the data comes from.

  • Destination — Select where the data should be moved or stored.

  • Granular File Selection — Select specific files or data to include in the task.

  • Scheduler — Define when and how often the task should run.

  • Filter — Specify which data should be included based on your filtering criteria.

  • Advanced Settings — Configure additional options such as task priority and metadata management.

Once a task is configured and scheduled, you can monitor its execution from the dashboard.

Task Monitoring

The Task Monitoring section provides a global view of your tasks. It helps you understand what is scheduled, what is currently running, and what has already been completed.

Task monitoring is divided into three sections:

Upcoming Tasks

The Upcoming Tasks section shows tasks that are scheduled to run in the future.

For each scheduled task, you can see information such as:

  • The task name

  • The scheduled execution date and time

  • The task status

Skip a scheduled execution

If you do not want a task to run at its next scheduled time, you can skip that execution by selecting the X icon next to the scheduled execution.

Skipping an execution affects the selected occurrence only; future scheduled executions remain available according to the task's schedule.

Missed executions

If a scheduled task could not be executed as expected, the dashboard displays a notification indicating that one or more task executions were missed.

Use this information to identify tasks that may require your attention and review their status or configuration.

Running Tasks

The Running Tasks section shows tasks that are currently being executed.

For each running task, you can:

  1. View details and status — Check the current state and execution information for the task.

  2. Pause the task — Temporarily suspend task execution.

  3. Resume the task — Continue a task that was previously paused.

  4. Stop the task — Stop the current execution.

These controls allow you to manage task execution without changing the task's underlying configuration.

History

The History section provides a record of task executions that have completed.

Use the task history to review previous executions and understand what happened during each run.

Depending on the available task information, you can use the history to review details such as:

  • Finish date

  • Task name

  • User name of task execution

  • Execution date and time

  • Execution status

  • Other execution details

Managing Tasks from the Dashboard

The dashboard provides visibility across the entire task lifecycle:

Upcoming Tasks → Running Tasks → History

Use Upcoming Tasks to prepare for scheduled executions, Running Tasks to monitor and control active executions, and History to review completed executions.

Together, these views give you a complete overview of your tasks and help you quickly identify executions that require attention.

Task Information and Reports

When you open a task, you can view detailed information about its execution, progress, and results.

The task details are organized into several sections to help you understand when the task is running, what type of operation is being performed, how much data has been processed, and what happened during execution.

Timing

The Timing information helps you track the execution of a task.

It includes:

  • Start date and time — The date and time when the task started.

  • Elapsed time — The amount of time the task has been running.

  • Estimated remaining time — The estimated amount of time required to complete the task.

The estimated remaining time may change while the task is running as more information about the execution becomes available.

Task Type

The Type field indicates the type of operation being performed by the task.

For example:

  • Data Migration — A task that moves or copies data to a destination.

Processed Size

Processed Size shows the amount of data that has been processed by the task.

Use this information to monitor the progress of the operation and compare the amount of data processed with the expected total.

Dispatcher / Movers

List the services "Dispatchers" and "movers" uses during the task execution.

Processed Items

Processed Items shows the number of files or other data items processed by the task.

Select the Processed Items tab to view the individual items processed during the task.

This view can help you verify that the expected data was processed successfully. You can download a csv file to check if needed. You can filter by files status.

Task Logs

The Task Log lists the messages generated during task execution.

Use the logs to review messages generated during processing and to investigate warnings, errors, or other events that occurred while the task was running.

Each task report contains information about the files processed during the task.

You can export and download a copy of the report for further analysis, record keeping, or troubleshooting.
